This year your Liberal Democrat team has been taking action on concerns about traffic speeds in our area. Cllr Keith Hutson has been at the forefront of arranging a series of meetings, including public consultation on plans to introduce reduced speed limits (particularly 20mph limits). I am very pleased to announce that these will shortly be implemented.
The new limits for rural areas will ensure that Warley village and surrounding hamlets are a safer place for us all to walk and drive around. Road safety is important for us all but particularly for the elderly and to ensure Warley is a safe and pleasant place to raise children.
The changes accurately reflect the wishes of all residents who attended the consultation meeting and submitted requests.
The new signage will be installed shortly.
This is just one example of Liberal Democrats listening to residents and taking positive action to improve where we live. In May I am standing for election, and I hope you will be willing to support me so I can help continue the great work your current ward Councillors are doing in Warley.

Local Lib Dem councillors are working with the Steering Committee at Halifax High School to try to obtain funding for a new Community Building at the Commander’s House on the school site. This building would be available to all local people for a variety of purposes, including skills and vocational training.
Lib Dem Cllr Ashley Evans is a Governor at the school and says “If the committee is successful in pulling this off, the facility will be of immense benefit, and Keith and I are right behind it”. Keith Hutson is a member of the Steering Committee.

March 6, 2012 in Calderdale, Community Clean Up, Warley Village
Last weekend I joined Warley Community Association for one of their community clear ups. I had wrongly assumed this would be around the village, but instead I found myself straddling a bramble filled stream along stock lane! It is totally amazing the amount of rubbish that finds it ways into the hedges and streams. Mainly I think from litter that is blown around on collection day.
There was some much welcome relief from the weather with hot cross buns and coffee. Kindly provided by one of the community association’s members. It was a job well done by the end of the morning, with Stock lane and the surrounding roads looking much better.
